Community Day in Belgium
In May, 150 motivated PwC partners and staff—some of them accompanied by their spouses—participated in PwC Belgium’s Community Day. As well as being an excellent opportunity to interact with colleagues in a context entirely different from office routines, the day offered the volunteers the chance to get their hands dirty, play with children, and give comfort to the elderly.
Among the 11 projects that comprised Community Day were these:
- Enthusiastic volunteers gave a fresh look to the premises of Leren Ondernemen, a non-profit organisation that instills principles of entrepreneurship in school curricula.
- Some volunteers helped entertain a group of refugee children; others took children under state care to a favourite restaurant; while still others took a group of young adults with autism for a trip to the zoo.
- Clearing an embankment on the Schelde River of 3.5 tons of trash was how another team of PwC Belgium volunteers spent their day.
