AudioDigest: Apportionment trends: The impact of states' evolving formulas

In a time of ever-changing apportionment formulas, states are rapidly increasing the weight of the sales factor or are eliminating property and payroll from the formula altogether. Sales of royalties, services, business assets, treasury receipts, and other items that produce income are apportioned under increasingly complex formulas.
In addition, the apportionment of sales of other than tangible personal property are shifting from an income-producing activity standard to one based on the market. States are also aggressively enforcing sales factor throwback and throwout rules.

AudioDigest: Solving the mystery of IRS interest computations

The IRS is, at times, not very good at computing interest related to tax accounts. This may create significant refund opportunities for many taxpayers. Understanding the interest computations performed by the IRS, recognizing the errors that the Service most often makes, and periodically reviewing your tax accounts to identify these errors may help your company recover overpaid underpayment interest and/or additional overpayment interest — potentially large interest amounts that you may not be aware you are entitled to receive.

Convergence and the path forward
This webcast will focus on the corporate income tax accounting considerations related to the convergence of FAS 109 and IAS 12, as well as a European perspective on the impact of IFRS. Key topics will include an overview of the project, expected changes in IAS 12 as a result of the exposure draft, key differences between IAS 12 and FAS 109 expected to remain, and why/how US companies should engage in the debate through the comment process for the exposure draft, given the current trend in the US toward a single global financial reporting standard.

Hurricanes. Summer floods in the Midwest. The wildfires that devastated Southern California. Just a long list of the disasters that Americans have to contend with on a regular basis. But when such disasters strike — most US citizens must rely on a medical system that is ill-prepared to deal with such emergencies. In this podcast, PricewaterhouseCoopers health industry leaders, Dr. David Levy and Dr. Peach Taylor discuss how to develop an integrated approach to health system disaster preparedness.

Global economic crime survey 2007

US supplement video with Neil Keenan
Consistent with the global findings, economic crime continues to be a significant challenge for US companies. Yet survey results show that US companies may be over confident that controls implemented pursuant to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act will have a carryover impact that deters and detects non-financial reporting related economic crime. While strengthened controls over financial reporting will have some carryover effect, it is clearly not a complete solution to the mitigation of the broad spectrum of economic crime. US companies continue to underestimate the importance of establishing a culture of transparency, openness and intolerance of compliance failures and improper business practices.
