Albanian Labour Code Amendment: Annual Paid Vacation Entitlements

The Albanian Parliament has enacted amendments to the Labour Code, refining the provisions on employee annual paid vacation entitlements. The key points of the amendment are as follows:

  • Annual Paid Vacation: The Code now specifies that employees are guaranteed a minimum of 22 working days of paid vacation annually, as opposed to the previous stipulation of four calendar weeks.

  • Vacation Flexibility: Employees are no longer restricted to taking vacations in full-week increments. The amendment permits the utilization of partial vacations, offering enhanced flexibility in vacation scheduling.

This legislative update, published in the Official Gazette on August 9, 2024, will be effective 15 days post-publication.

Employers are advised to review their vacation policies to ensure compliance with the new standards set forth by the Albanian Labour Code, as amended.
