Geneviève is a partner in PwC Law’s Montreal office and is the managing partner of PwC Law LLP. Her practice focuses on tax dispute resolution and litigation. Geneviève assists clients with tax audits and objections, making representations to tax authorities, and negotiating out-of-court settlements. Geneviève has represented clients before the Federal Court of Appeal, Québec Court of Appeal, British Columbia Court of Appeal, the Québec Superior Court, the British Columbia Supreme Court, the Tax Court of Canada and the Court of Québec.
Geneviève works with clients across a variety of industries including mining, real estate, financial services, automotive and transportation. Geneviève also works extensively with the PwC Private team at PwC Canada to bring value to owners and leaders of private companies.
Previously, Geneviève worked in the tax group of a national law firm. Prior to that she was the interim Deputy Director of the Tax Law Services branch of the Department of Justice, where she practiced for almost ten years and was the General Anti-Avoidance Rule (GAAR) technical specialist for the Ottawa region.
Geneviève’s significant cases include Saskferco (foreign exchange gains), Golini (shareholder benefits), Wesdome (new mine), Lehigh Cement Limited #1 (GAAR/cross-border coupon strip), Lehigh Cement #2 (interpretation of specific foreign affiliate anti-avoidance rule), Construction Amiante (GAAR) and Abenaim (characterization of damages).
Geneviève is a frequent writer and speaker on tax litigation issues and the GAAR, and was previously an adjunct professor at the University of Ottawa. In addition to being managing partner of PwC Law LLP, she is on the Tax Leadership team for PwC.
Geneviève received her LL.L from the University of Ottawa and her LL.M from HEC Montréal. Genevieve is called to the bar in Quebec.
