On 15 January, we launched the findings of our 27th Annual Global CEO Survey in Davos. The survey of 4,702 CEOs in 105 countries and territories took place against a backdrop of rapid technological transformation, looming threats posed by climate change, increased complexity in the regulatory environment and various other geopolitical tensions. Responses reveal that economic optimism among CEOs has more than doubled compared to 2023, yet almost half of CEOs do not believe their businesses will be viable in a decade as tech and climate pressures accelerate. To learn more, read the report, and watch PwC Global Chair Bob Moritz discuss the findings from Davos.
PwC Global Chair Bob Moritz joined a panel on 16 January to discuss the importance of improving energy efficiency to ensure an affordable, secure and climate-friendly future. Watch the session, moderated by Tania Bryer, CNBC anchor and executive producer, here.
“Economic headwinds, geopolitical tensions, climate change and technological disruption present complex challenges for leaders around the world. As these trends bring to bear new uncertainties and opportunities, it has never been more important for the private and public sectors to collaborate to build trust and deliver sustained outcomes for people and the planet.”
At the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) announced the inaugural list of TNFD Early Adopters. As an inaugural TNFD Early Adopter, PwC is proud that we will start making disclosures aligned with the TNFD recommendations in our corporate reporting. We believe the TNFD recommendations and guidance will support us in identifying and assessing our nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities.
With the ability to process huge amounts of data, digital technology can help organisations more accurately measure their environmental footprints and guide businesses to make better decisions aligned with climate goals. Data analytics, generative AI and blockchain can all be leveraged to achieve sustainability targets and must be harnessed to reduce emissions. To learn more, listen to our affiliate panel on how digital technology can power net zero, moderated by PwC Global Climate Leader Emma Cox.
