Socrates is the Global Shipping & Ports Industry leader of PwC. His clients include both listed and private shipping companies. Other than audit services, Socrates has been involved in the provision of advisory services to shipping companies, including restructuring services, corporate governance, process improvement, internal control system design & implementation, IPO readiness assessments, etc. He has over 26 years of experience as an auditor in both the UK and Greece, as well as 4 years of experience as a deal advisor within the Transaction Services department of PwC in London and Athens. Moreover, Socrates leads integrated audits of US listed shipping companies in accordance with PCAOB standards as well as audits of private shipping companies under both International Standards of Auditing or US Generally Accepted Auditing Standards. In his capacity as Global & Ports Leader, Socrates coordinates with the shipping industry leaders across the global PwC firm network to discuss current issues that impact the industry and develop appropriate responses and solutions for clients.He has also led audits in multiple industries, including Pharmaceuticals, Consumer Goods and the Energy & Utilities sectors. Socrates holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance (London School of Economics – United Kingdom). He is a UK qualified chartered accountant (FCA, Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales). He is also a qualified auditor under the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Greece.
