PwC has been named as a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Artificial Intelligence Services 2021 Vendor Assessment (May 2021, IDC #US46741921). The IDC MarketScape found that 'top business drivers for buyers of AI services stayed remarkably stable since this study was first conducted in 2019. According to IDC's Artificial Intelligence Services Buyer Perception Survey, which collected feedback from 94 of the evaluated vendors' customers, "improving operational efficiency" continued to lead as a critical business priority and "ability to achieve business outcomes" remained the most critical vendor attribute for successful AI services.'
The IDC MarketScape notes: ‘PwC's data and analytics practice provides a range of AI services, including: AI strategy and policy; governance planning; ecosystem oversight; AI development; AI testing and development; AI monitoring; and reporting and attestation. PwC applies its BXT (business, experience and technology) approach to create and deliver AI solutions for clients, leveraging its homegrown IPs (Internet Protocol) such as PwC Insight Platform; technologies from partners, such as AWS, Google, Microsoft and Oracle, open source platforms, start-ups and academia; and the PwC AI Lab for co-innovation.’
Commenting on PwC’s strengths, the report states: ‘Buyers rated PwC highly for its ability to provide technical insights and competency; secure AI algorithms, APIs (Application Programming Interface), and training data; deliver the right value for fee paid, showcase its thought leadership, provide appropriate and high-quality resources for an engagement and help their business deal with unforeseen challenges (such as the COVID-19 pandemic). IDC considers PwC's strategies around marketing, employee skills and IP monetisation as key strengths.’
IDC MarketScape vendor analysis model is designed to provide an overview of the competitive fitness of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) suppliers in a given market. The research methodology utilises a rigorous scoring methodology based on both qualitative and quantitative criteria that results in a single graphical illustration of each vendor’s position within a given market. The Capabilities score measures vendor product, go-to-market and business execution in the short-term. The Strategy score measures alignment of vendor strategies with customer requirements in a 3-5-year timeframe. Vendor market share is represented by the size of the icons.
