PwC Cyprus is collaborating with the Youth Board of Cyprus to help young people, the unemployed and those excluded from the opportunity to develop their skills, with training and development to prepare them for employment in the digital world.
People living in rural areas of Cyprus are often left behind in the race to gain the digital and supporting skills typically required to participate in today’s tech enabled world.
Young people and the unemployed living outside of the major city often don’t have their own transport and cannot afford the travel costs to attend seminars or workshops. Being isolated in rural locations can mean there are fewer jobs available and opportunities to learn new skills are limited or simply not available at all.
Working alongside the Youth Board of Cyprus, an organisation offering young people multiple opportunities for active participation in social activities, PwC Cyprus will invest 500 hours per year over three years, of teaching and training in youth development in areas such as; digital education, training, employment, career management, innovation and entrepreneurship.
The Youth Board of Cyprus will host workshops in their premises across a number of towns and locations. PwC staff will help facilitate the workshops by delivering the programme, sharing their knowledge and digital skills. The workshop titled “Survival Guide to a Digital Future”, covers three themes; careers in the digital economy, the digital skills required and the culture needed to develop and thrive as employees and citizens in a digital world.
The priority is to provide opportunities for young people to develop the skills needed to participate in today’s modern and, at times, challenging world. Working with the Youth Board of Cyprus will provide young people with new opportunities to broaden their knowledge and develop their skills in order to navigate their future.
“The skills gap is a challenge that goes to the heart of our purpose, to build trust in society and solve important problems. At PwC, we prioritise the upskilling of all of our people’s skills and we work with organisations and institutions in order to help people, who under different conditions would not have access to such opportunities.”
