PwC collaborates with UNICEF in support of GenU providing young women access to STEM skills & job opportunities through the TechnoGirl programme in South Africa.
View TranscriptMany young people around the world do not have access to the skills they need for the jobs of the future.
To help address this challenge, PwC is collaborating with UNICEF in support of Generation Unlimited to help upskill millions of young people.
In South Africa, we’re growing the TechnoGirl programme providing young women and girls with access to STEM skills and employment opportunities.
Through the collaboration, nearly 10,000 young women have taken part in job shadowing opportunities and developed their digital skills.
Lesedi Masina, TechnoGirl participant: I grew up in a place where I didn’t see a lot of people succeeding. I didn’t see a lot of people that had good jobs so it was hard for me to get inspiration from the environment I was in. So, I got to see the world in a different place, I got to see what was possible. I got to believe in myself.
Amahle Shezi, TechnoGirl participant: My experience in the TechnoGirl programme was very good. I enjoyed it a lot and learnt a lot from my mentors.
TechnoGirl is breaking down barriers for young women, and building their confidence, skills, and networks.
With many of the participants going onto pursue careers in STEM fields.
