Meet Alicia, a manager with PwC UK’s Internal Audit team. She specialises in the education sector, working on reviewing her clients’ student experiences, HR processes and staff wellbeing.
Alicia started her PwC career in Brisbane after graduating university. Her love for travel and interest in different cultures inspired her to move to our Glasgow office in April 2020, where she began working with the Internal Audit team. Starting a new position during the COVID-19 pandemic provided some unique challenges, but she loved getting to know her team through video meetings and during virtual coffee catch-ups. Technology has also helped Alicia collaborate directly with her clients during this time and allowed her to provide co-sourced and out-sourced audit services.
Outside of her client work, Alicia takes advantage of PwC UK’s volunteer programme, helping her local community. “Every year we have access to six days of volunteering, and are encouraged to support local initiatives and programmes close to our heart. Often we volunteer in groups, so it’s a nice way to meet others who have similar interests as you,” she says.
During the first five years of her professional journey, Alicia has felt fully supported by her PwC career coach and has taken advantage of a wide array of training modules that are helping her to achieve her personal goals. Alicia loves the freedom and responsibility she has found at PwC. She sets her own goals and defines her own success through the difference she makes for her clients, colleagues and her community.
“More often than not, arriving at that final destination turns out nothing like you imagined it would, and actually, the treasure is found in the journey in between.”
