Greenvolt Group, a provider of 100% renewable energy, operates across 20 countries with a variety of technological methods. Thereby, the importance of data cannot be overstated – it's crucial. Real-time, dependable data is critical for the efficient operation and control of its energy sites.
Data was also the reason Greenvolt faced a challenge: the organisation had to collate incoming information from various data streams, manage over 300 solar installations in Portugal alone and provide its customers with accurate, timely reports.
As the organisation expanded, it became increasingly clear that its existing mix of disparate hardware and software solutions was no longer sufficient. The need for a centralised data system was critical.
Aware of the intricacies involved in creating a centralised system that would consolidate data from multiple locations, the Greenvolt team understood the need for a solution that was robust enough to satisfy their immediate needs but also capable of accommodating future growth.

The client chose PwC Portugal because of our strong technical experience, strategic partnerships with leading technology providers and deep understanding of Greenvolt's business needs.
In 2021, PwC Portugal began working with Greenvolt in the definition of its IT Strategy where the migration of the organisation's main IT and data systems to the cloud was one of the strategic drivers, focusing on improving scalability, security, and operational efficiency. This shift would provide a more robust and reliable infrastructure, enabling the efficient integration and the handling of larger amounts of data and specifically supporting Greenvolt’s vision.
With our deep experience in navigating technological challenges and implementing large-scale solutions, we were able to find the right software solution for the Greenvolt Group who opted for a cloud solution from one of the leading providers in this field, Microsoft.
The programme was scheduled to last three years and included an IT Strategy Plan, a Platform Assessment, a Cloud Solution Design, and a ‘Move to Cloud’ implementation, covering everything from strategy to execution. By custom-building the new system around Greenvolt’s specific requirements, PwC Portugal enabled the team to seamlessly access data from across the organisation while efficiently scaling its customer base.

The implementation of single monitoring, alarming and reporting systems across all s facilities of the client has streamlined operations significantly leading to faster, more efficient customer responses and far easier, real-time comparisons of data and equipment, all under the banner of a single solution: one that works on all sides, for all parties, and can be built upon going forward.
