PwC named a Leader in 2020 IDC MarketScape for Asia/Pacific Professional Security Services - Advisory, Assessment, and Awareness

PwC's Cybersecurity & Privacy practice continues to be one of the firm's most significant talent and technology investments.

PwC has been named as a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Asia/Pacific Professional Security Services - Advisory, Assessment, and Awareness 2020 Vendor Assessment (February 2020, IDC #AP45547920).

According to the report, “trade wars, pandemic health crisis, and political and environmental activism are all on the rise globally. With this backdrop, organisations and governments in the Asia/Pacific (APAC) region are now being exposed to hostile and complex cyber environments. Organisations, including government agencies and private enterprises, are experiencing heightened levels of cyberwarfare and cyberbullying under current uncertain political and economic environment.”

The report is based on IDC analysis and customer feedback and positions PwC in the Leaders category in the IDC MarketScape for Asia/Pacific Professional Security Services 2020 Vendor Assessment.

The authors of this IDC MarketScape report, Cathy Huang and James Sivalingam, say that: “PwC's Cybersecurity and Privacy (C&P) practice is structured as a horizontal business services platform, supporting PwC's advisory, assurance, and tax lines of business. The firm provides extensive professional security services. For instance its strategy, transformation, and risk offerings assist clients in developing business-focused, risk-informed strategies that support growth; and the privacy and consumer protection service helps clients understand how to use data life cycles to protect data, meet the privacy expectations of consumers, and prepare for and comply with privacy regulations.”

They go on to say that: “PwC's security offerings are brought to market primarily through industry sectors. It combines its industry and functional knowledge with information security, privacy, forensics, fraud management, risk strategy consulting, and regulatory compliance to deliver outcome-based services. Its business, experience, and technology (BXT) engagement philosophy that optimises design, delivery, and pricing options for the client is also leveraged in the security strategy and planning services. Not surprisingly, security strategy and planning offering is the firm's biggest revenue generator for its professional security services business in the APAC region.”

Commenting on PwC’s strengths, the report states that “At the strategy level, PwC's C&P practice continues to be one of the firm's most significant talent and technology investments as the firm continuously improves its services and offerings to reflect the maturity of the market with the aim of embedding security across all products and services. According to customer feedback, PwC's security professionals have exhibited deep technical and subject matter expertise. Besides technical expertise, its broader knowledge regarding the specific industry regulation, market, and business-centric thinking stands out. PwC assist clients in developing business-focused strategies that support growth by aligning security goals with business objectives, which is a major plus point.”

It also says: “PwC has a proven framework translating client business strategies into cybersecurity and privacy strategy, inclusive of talent and technology investments. By deploying relevant IP and toolsets, it accelerates time to value and scales the delivery. Its value proposition around data trust, for instance, enabling extraction of value from data throughout its life cycle in a secure, ethical, compliant, and automated way, acts a strong differentiator. Additionally, pricing inputs for all engagements are driven by client preferences, capabilities, capacities, and overall relationship value, ensuring high levels of customer experience and satisfaction.”
