As excitement and investment around GenAI continue to surge, PwC has developed an innovative technique that gives clients a fast, easy way to unlock value from this groundbreaking technology. Highlighted by SAP CEO Christian Klein during his opening keynote at SAP Sapphire Orlando, it is called “Autocommenting with GenAI”.

How does it work? First, we zoom in on any part of the business where a company wants to capture insights from its data. Many of PwC’s clients start with the finance department. For example, discovering which products drive the greatest profits in each region. But equally, PwC can begin with warehouse management, investigating inventory levels or purchasing trends. Or with HR, looking at skillsets or employee tenure across the workforce. Or anything else – the sky’s the limit.

Next, PwC helps clients automatically detect outliers, peaks and troughs in data, and use GenAI to add comments explaining the reasons behind these trends and anomalies. This essentially automates the data analysis process, reducing manual work while accelerating time-to-insight. All the findings are visualised in a single dashboard on SAP Analytics Cloud.

How is all this possible? Because, PwC’s new Autocommenting with GenAI offering brings together the power of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP Datasphere and Python scripting based on Jupyter Notebook within SAP HANA. PwC can unlock insights from all kinds of company data – including unstructured formats like PDFs, thanks to the SAP HANA Cloud Vector Engine.

Turbocharging data analysis with GenAI offers several benefits:

  • Employees spend less time crunching numbers, and more time using data to improve decision-making.

  • The manual effort involved in data analysis plummets significantly, depending on the use case.

  • It reveals the most important insights from data.

  • Unlike manual approaches, our offering ensures that no unusual patterns in data are overlooked.

PwC has already helped clients in industries like automotive and healthcare to use GenAI to take their data analysis to the next level. But there’s a whole world of possibilities out there, and we’re only just scratching the surface. PwC’s Autocommenting with GenAI offering can be rapidly adapted to help clients address other use cases across the entire business, and PwC is excited to see what the future holds.

Why is PwC the right SAP partner to help clients transform data analysis using GenAI? Because PwC combines business advice with technology expertise. And because PwC has decades of experience in SAP, particularly business analytics solutions. In fact, PwC was the first advisory firm to help clients deploy SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud. This innovative use of GenAI to automate data analysis is just one of the many ways PwC helps clients solve their most complex problems.
