The afternoon workshops will be organized in cooperation with the German-Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DUIHK), the American Chamber of Commerce in Hungary (AmCham), and the Hajdú-Bihar County Branch of the National Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers (VOSZ).
Speaking at a press conference organized jointly by the City of Debrecen and PwC Hungary on 19 March, László Papp, Mayor of Debrecen, discussed Debrecen’s new strategy unveiled in 2015, which is based on structured industrial and economic development and the comprehensive promotion of investment. Debrecen is now witnessing the largest industrial park infrastructure development in the CEE region. PwC joined this dynamic business ecosystem at the end of last year by opening its new office and hosting business events in Debrecen, bringing together representatives of Hungarian and multinational enterprises.
“Debrecen has grown into a global player with outstanding growth prospects. It is also very important to look back on the past ten years, focussing not only on growth, but also on the challenges, and to appreciate those who have played a key role in the region’s economic development. I am convinced that this forum will enable us in the future to stay on top of the latest in business.”
“The conference will bring the attention of global business players to the region, making its mark on the local economy for the first time. It will be a meeting point for local and regional businesses, as well as for the leaders of multinational companies operating in Debrecen and its environs. It will help us model business processes, both locally and globally, to better understand them.”
“Since 14 November, when PwC arrived in Debrecen, we have hosted several important local events. Now as a crowning achievement, as Mr. Papp noted, we want to showcase the very best of the region’s business community each spring to allow Hungarian and multinational companies to engage in dialogue and learn from one other. It is important to help both established companies and newcomers prepare for an ever-changing business landscape, focussing on trust and quality. We also want to promote partnerships between businesses and education, support women in business, and empower disadvantaged groups.”
Describing the region’s economic potential, Mr. Lőcsei referred to PwC’s 13th Hungarian CEO Survey, in which 31 CEOs from Eastern Hungary participated (10% of respondents). The regional survey results will be presented at the April event.
At today’s press conference, Mr. Lőcsei also unveiled two regional awards: the Business Excellence Award 2024, and the Company of the Future Excellence Award 2024, both of which will be presented at the forum.
“Debrecen plays a pivotal role in Hungary’s economy and is evolving at such a rate that this recognition was much needed, especially in today’s volatile economic climate.”
