Our Flying Start pathway is a fast-track, four-year programme designed to accelerate your career in finance by combining academic study with practical, paid experience at PwC. This unique pathway gives you the chance to hit the ground running in your journey to becoming a Chartered Accountant, all while earning a salary.
Developed in collaboration with University College Jersey, you’ll graduate with a BSc (Hons) in Business Accounting from the University of Plymouth. By studying locally, you’ll be just one year away from becoming a fully qualified Chartered Accountant, saving time and money.
What makes this programme a true "Flying Start" is that you’ll complete 80% of your ICAEW exams while studying, gain significant professional experience through placements with PwC, and be only a few steps away from full ICAEW qualification after graduation.
And it’s not all work—you’ll still have summers off to relax, travel, or pursue your personal interests, giving you the best of both worlds: a head start on your career and the flexibility to enjoy life along the way.
All of the teaching and assessment on the four-year Flying Start pathway is delivered locally in a supportive environment. At the end of the journey students achieve an internationally recognised degree. The degree will cover all certificate and professional stage ICAEW exams, such that students only need to sit the advanced stage exams after their degree to fully exam qualify.
Studying on-island brings the benefits of high levels of pastoral care, lower travel and accommodation costs and greater access to specialist tutors and mentors. You will achieve a recognised bachelor’s degree in finance alongside your professional exams, as well as enjoying significant paid work experience in a professional and supportive workplace.
There's no better place to learn your trade as an accountant than PwC. You’ll join one of PwC’s Audit teams, where you could be working on external audits. We recognise Audit as a deep specialism and give our people access to the best opportunities.
