PwC announces significant leadership change

01 December, 2017

PwC in the Channel Islands has appointed Simon Perry as its new Senior Partner. With effect from 1 January 2018, Simon will take on this pivotal role, succeeding Brendan McMahon, who has held this leadership position since 2012.

A Partner with PwC since 2005, Simon has had a wide variety of roles within the firm so far, accumulating wide-ranging experience working in Asset and Wealth Management practices at PwC in Sydney, London and in the Channel Islands. His most recent role was as a Partner on secondment to PwC’s London office since 2013, leading the UK Asset and Wealth Management Advisory business. While in the UK, he maintained responsibility for leading PwC CI’s due diligence transaction work and listing projects on major stock exchanges including the London Stock Exchange, the Alternative Investment Market (AIM), Euronext and The International Stock Exchange (TISE). In London, Simon also led the firm’s relationship with one of the largest global asset management and asset servicers businesses across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), a testament to the value the global network places on Simon’s leadership.

Born and educated in Ireland, Simon firstly relocated to Guernsey in the early ’90s, prior to moving to Jersey in 1996 and on to PwC in Sydney in 1999, before returning to the Bailiwick in 2003. In his new role as Senior Partner, he will have responsibility for all PwC business areas across the Channel Islands.

A client and solutions focused individual, Simon will continue to deliver the best of PwC, championing growth areas for the firm such as technology, data and analytics, and in doing so help clients respond to the opportunities of a digital age by giving them access to high quality teams and innovative services. An avid supporter of the PwC diversity journey, Simon also firmly believes in bringing the best talent to clients, regardless of age, race, gender or social background and will remain dedicated to embedding diversity in all areas of the business.

Simon will succeed Brendan McMahon, who formally leaves PwC in Spring 2018, after serving five years as Senior Partner with a career spanning 31 years with the PwC network.

Simon Perry commented:

“I’m honoured to have been appointed Senior Partner of PwC in the Channel Islands. This is an exciting time for the firm and it’s a privilege to lead what is a fantastic team of professionals working in Guernsey, Jersey and Alderney. I’m genuinely delighted to have the opportunity to lead the strategic thinking for our business both locally and within the wider PwC network, as we work together to take our firm from strength to strength. I also pay tribute to Brendan’s leadership, which coincided with our move into our new offices in Jersey five years ago. He has led the firm with vision and embraced innovation at a time of increasing regulation and compliance, changes to business practices and the rise of digital, so ensuring we are ideally positioned to better serve our clients.”

"I’ve seen at first hand Simon’s energy, enthusiasm and commitment to our clients and people. He has made a significant contribution to the leadership of the firm since his appointment as Partner 12 years ago and I’m indebted to him for many years of support. Simon brings a wealth of exceptional qualities, experience and skills to lead the firm to continued success and I’m fully confident that he will steer PwC to even greater things in the future."

Brendan McMahon, commenting on the announcement of his successor.
