The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (“EEC”) has prepared a draft decision “On the classification of multivitamin and vitamin preparations in accordance with the unified Commodity nomenclature of foreign economic activity of the Eurasian Economic Union)» (the “EEC decision”). This EEC decision is published on the EEC website and is available for public discussion until 30 November 2020.
The EEC proposes to classify vitamin containing substances into 3 categories depending on the drug content and prescription: food products, medicines and cosmetic products. The classification will impact the customs duty rates and application of exemption from VAT on import and VAT on sales of such preparations.
