On the 9 of March 2021, the Use of Cash (Restriction) Regulations (S.L. 373.04) (“the Regulations”) were published in the Government Gazette as Legal Notice 81 of 2021 and came into effect on the same day. On the 3 August 2021, the FIAU published “FAQs on the Use of Cash (Restriction) Regulations.”

On the 3 August 2021, the FIAU addressed the consultation paper which has been published by the European Banking Authority (“EBA”) pertaining to the draft Guidelines on the role, tasks and responsibilities of anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) compliance officers under Article 8 and Chapter VI of Directive (EU) 2015/849 (the “draft Guidelines”).
