In 2014, our firm partnered with a social enterprise foundation to hold the first ever award of its kind in the country. Isla Lipana & Co./PwC Philippines and the Benita & Catalino Yap Foundation (BCY Foundation) recognize Filipino enterprises committed to social objectives through their enterprises through the awards.
Since then, PwC Philippines continues to serve the social enterprise ecosystem through its various related programs.
Generation Hope, Inc., the social enterprise behind “Hope in a Bottle” purified bottled water, is the grand winner of DSEA 2017. The enterprise helps solve the country’s shortage of classrooms by giving its profit to fund the construction of school buildings.
The Alternative Nest and Trading/Training Hub for Indigenous/Ingenious Little Livelihood Seekers or ANTHILL was established as a social and cultural enterprise that works to preserve and promote our Philippine weaving traditions among younger generations by applying such culture into contemporary designs. It has since expanded its reach nationwide.
The Ecosystems Work for Essential Benefits, Inc. (ECOWEB) was named the grand winner of the first DSEA awards in 2015. Organized in 2006 to respond to interlinking problems of poverty, conflict, environmental degradation and poor governance, ECOWEB partnered with a number of farmers and women to produce natural fertilizers and pest repellent under the trade name “EcOrganic”.
