PwC Philippines participates in 77th PICPA Annual Convention

Assurance Managing Partner Aldie P. Garcia moderated Technical Session 3: The Great Reshuffle: Recruitment and Challenges. Speakers from the professional services industry and public sector presented how their respective organizations are responding to employee attrition and retention. 

Aldie then moderated the Q&A. He emphasized that the academe plays a critical role in helping Accountancy students appreciate their contribution to businesses and the country. Compensation alone is not the primary consideration but employees look for companies that give them fulfillment and flexibility. 

He closed the session and said, "Workplace and workforce dynamics will always be a challenge, pandemic or not. And from the discussions, it is but fair to conclude that a Filipino CPA is in demand, world class and sexy and it is up to everyone of us in the room to keep it that way".

Afterwards, PwC Philippines Chairman and Senior Partner Roderick M. Danao was a speaker at Technical Session 5 entitled “Digital and Agile Leadership: Going Beyond Paper to PDF.” He said, “If you don’t evolve, you drift.”

He explained the firm’s digital transformation strategy, emphasizing that digitalization should be human led rather than tech led. He encouraged participants to reimagine the possible, address fundamental issues and be agile. He then presented examples on how the firm has been helping a lot of business in their digital transformation journeys. 

During the question and answer portion, Rick said that all sectors must embrace digital change but remain true to their purpose and values.

Other speakers of the session included officers from the professional services and healthcare industries.
