GenAI to be embedded in all that we do, predicts PwC NZ specialist

“Over the next couple years, we’re going to see GenAI embedded into every thing that we do.” This is predicted by Scott McLiver, Partner and Asia Pacific Leader in Generative AI (GenAI) at PwC New Zealand, during his recent speaking tour in Manila.

The audiences for his series of informative sessions on GenAI were business leaders from the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) during its 2nd MAP Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Summit, investment professionals from the CFA Society Philippines, as well as PwC Philippines’ partners and directors.

Scott’s presentation focused on GenAI and how it can be harnessed to optimize business performance and efficiency. He described it as a “digital brain” that is capable of absorbing vast amounts of knowledge, identifying patterns and forming relationships between data, just like human brains can.

Despite the rapid advancement of GenAI, McLiver emphasized that we are merely at the dawn of this technological revolution. “The arrival of a non-human intelligence is a big deal, and we’re not even 1 percent along that journey," he explained. “Whether those are creative tasks like creating videos or logos or diagrams, or analytical, like programming or report writing, we’ve now got basically a digital brain that we can use to help us accomplish our goals,” he added.

He challenged professionals to use this digital intelligence: “If you’ve got a mobile device and an internet connection, you can have the smartest person on the planet in your pocket for free. As professionals, our task is to figure out how to maximize the benefits of these digital brains for our clients.”

PwC Philippines has also been leveraging GenAI in its operations while helping clients and stakeholders do the same to unlock new opportunities for growth and innovation. The firm conducts Executive GenAI Digital Upskilling and Masterclass programs specifically designed for C-suites and executives. It also provides AI strategy development services that include creating a well-defined AI roadmap, implementing effective implementation strategies and establishing a trusted AI framework.

It also specializes in co-developing interconnected AI governance structures and ensuring the seamless integration and implementation of AI and emerging technologies into an organization's operations. One of the key focus areas is facilitating people adoption and driving positive change within the organization. Moreover, the firm offers GenAI Proof of Concepts and Proof of Value initiatives. These are paired with an organization's people, process, and technology maturity analysis, which helps assess an organization’s readiness to adopt AI and kickstart their GenAI journey.

In addition, a signed agreement between PwC US and PwC UK and OpenAI has made PwC OpenAI's the first reseller for ChatGPT Enterprise and the largest user of the product. This newest investment in AI will expand PwC’s technology ecosystem and enable it to scale AI capabilities across businesses to help drive accelerated impact for clients.
