PwC PH Learning and Experience Hub

Isla Lipana & Co./PwC Philippines launches its Learning and Experience Hub, a pioneering facility that combines education, employment and community engagement. Opening on 17 July at the PUP BPO Center, next to the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) main Manila campus, this groundbreaking initiative sets a new benchmark in bridging the gap between academia and the industry, creating unparalleled opportunities for students and communities.

The hub is the first of its kind in the industry, designed to foster a collaborative environment where learning and practical experience converge. It reflects PwC Philippines' commitment to innovation and excellence, providing a sustainable platform that significantly supports the holistic development of students and promotes inclusive community development.

Internship programs

Central to the Learning and Experience Hub is its innovative approach to internships. The hub offers paid internships to tertiary-level students from various academic backgrounds, including accountancy, engineering, computer science and business.

PwC Philippines Chairman and Senior Partner Roderick “Rick” Danao explains, “We want to establish stronger connections with the students, understand their aspirations and provide them with practical experiences beyond the classroom. This program underscores our commitment to developing world-class professionals by equipping them with real-world skills that prepare them for the future.”

Students will gain hands-on experience relevant to their academic tracks while working under the guidance of seasoned professionals in PwC’s assurance, advisory or tax lines of service. This program enables students to apply their academic knowledge to real-world scenarios, gain a comprehensive understanding of their chosen fields, develop critical thinking and analytical skills, build professional networks and improve their job prospects after graduation.

Empowering PWDs and senior citizens

The Learning and Experience Hub also stands as a beacon of inclusivity, offering transformative work opportunities for members of the community, including persons with disabilities (PWDs) and senior citizens. PwC Philippines values the unique skills and perspectives they bring and integrates them into the maintenance team responsible for the upkeep of the building fixtures and facilities.

Rick has consistently championed diversity and inclusion within the firm. He shares, "At PwC Philippines, we believe in the power of diversity. Every contribution, regardless of age or ability, strengthens our purpose. We are proud to create opportunities for all, reflecting our commitment to a better tomorrow. Together, we set a new standard for inclusivity and collaboration, proving that everyone has a vital role to play.”

Strategic location and state-of-the-art facility

The hub is located along Pureza Street in Sta. Mesa, Manila and is accessible via the LRT-2 and a short tricycle ride from the PUP main campus.

Intended to serve as a central point for the firm’s work, recruitment and training activities, the facility is also equipped with modern AV equipment, a Zen garden and a courtyard that is conducive to both work and study. It can accommodate up to 200 individuals and will host training programs led by PwC Philippines’ Learning & Development team.

Future prospects and broader impact

The program will initially be available to PUP students, and then expand to include students from other colleges and universities. The firm aims to onboard 150–200 students by the end of 2024. By fostering a robust talent pipeline, PwC is committed to contributing to the nation's economic growth and development by ensuring that the next generation of professionals is well-prepared to address emerging challenges and seize opportunities in the ever-evolving business landscape.

Leading the way: PwC Philippines' vision for the future

The Learning and Experience Hub marks a pivotal milestone in PwC Philippines' mission to promote inclusive growth and development. By investing in education, empowering members of the community and creating a collaborative space for learning and professional growth, PwC is not only preparing the future workforce but also setting new industry standards for social impact. This initiative embodies the firm’s commitment to a more inclusive future, where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.
