Unlike other Filipinos in their old age, Lolo is not resting at home, taken care of by family. Instead, he still works tirelessly, daily – mending shoes while he wears a simple pair of slippers.
I observed him carefully, as he blended into the sidewalk while hundreds passed him by along a street in Iloilo City. He was not a 'headturner' but there was just something that radiated from him as he did what he usually did – he was a warrior.
