Is there a deadline to apply by?
We don't necessarily have cut off dates to apply however I would recommend applying at least two weeks before the start date to ensure everything with processing your application and payment runs smoothly. Once you enrol you are given access to the online learning platform, it’s handy to have this in good time before you start so that you can learn to navigate it before the first session.
How long do I have to complete my course?
We provide you with up to 3 years access to the materials and support to complete your course.
Can I switch study methods?
Yes, you can switch study methods on a modular basis.
I’m not sure whether I want to do the additional module to gain an extra qualification, can I decide this after applying?
Yes, you would just need to complete the online application form when you are ready to undertake your additional module, and we automatically apply the 50% discount on that module.
I would like to undertake the free project management course; do I have to do this alongside my CIM course?
No, we provide you with an extra 6 months access to the online learning platform, for you to complete your free project management course after your CIM course.
Which free project management course should I choose?
If you have no previous experience working in project management, we usually recommend that you start with the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification. However, for more information on the differences between each project management course, please click here.
I have a marketing degree; would I be eligible for any exemptions?
If you attended a University that is on the CIM’s Accredited Degree list in the last 5 years, you may be eligible for exemptions. To see if your degree qualifies for exemptions, please contact us.
I have an Accredited Degree, which modules am I exempt from?
For the CIM Certificate, you would be exempt from the Marketing Impact module.
For the CIM Diploma, you would be exempt from the Strategy and Planning Module.
My employer is funding my course, is there a different route that I would go down to apply?
You would need to complete the online application form and select that you are employer funded. We would then raise an invoice. We can enrol you based on either the invoice being paid in full or if a hard copy of a Purchase Order is sent to us.
Please note that we cannot invoice for the CIM fees, these are always paid directly to the CIM.
How long does it take to get enrolled?
From payment being made, it can take up to 2 working days to enrol you. You will then be sent your log in details to the online learning platform.
If you have applied for a face to face or virtual class, you will be sent joining instructions around 1 week prior to classes beginning, this will include your class schedule.
Is the Marketing Gateway Programme mandatory?
No, the marketing gateway programme is a free, supplementary course to the CIM Certificate and Diploma, and is a pre-course which lays the foundations for basic marketing theories and principles. It is a perfect segway into your first module.
What’s the difference between virtual and distance learning?
Virtual Learning is an interactive study method, where you will attend live Zoom sessions. You will have discussion with your peers and can ask the tutor questions.
Whereas Distance learning is a non-interactive study method. You will be given all the course materials and learn at your own pace/ a time that suits you best (you would not attend any live classes, this is essentially a self-paced study).
Which study method should I choose/ is there a study method that is better than others?
There isn’t one study method that is better than another. Which study method you choose comes down to your preference of learning style.
If you are someone who learns through discussion and interaction, the face to face or virtual classes would be best for you.
If you are someone who would prefer to learn at your own pace, in your own time, distance learning gives you that flexibility.
Can I use post nominals after my name by completing a CIM qualification? Áno, závisí to však od toho, akú kvalifikáciu chcete štúdiom získať.
Yes, this is dependent on which qualification you study.
You are able to add the letters ‘DipM’ after your name if you successfully complete the CIM Postgraduate Diploma or the Marketing Leadership Programme.
You can use the letters ‘ACIM’ after your name if you have completed one of the CIM Level 6 Diplomas, in addition to also having a current CIM membership. This would also then make you eligible for the associate graded membership.
What are the differences between the CIM Certificate and the CIM Diploma?
1. The Certificate is the equivalent to a Foundation year of a degree, whereas the Diploma is the equivalent to an Undergraduate degree.
2 The Certificate is for people with 6-12 months of experience working in a marketing role, whereas the Diploma is for anyone with 2 + years’ experience.
3. The Certificate is aimed at people in an executive role, whereas the Diploma is suited to people either in, or working towards moving into a managerial role.
