EU Structural Funds comprise two funds: The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which has provided financial support for the development and structural adjustments of regional economies, economic changes, improved competitiveness and territorial cooperation in the EU since 1975, and The European Social Fund (ESF) created in 1958 to improve the adaptability of employees and enterprises, access to employment and participation in the labour market, and to support the social inclusion of disadvantaged persons, to combat all forms of discrimination, and to establish partnerships aimed at implementing employment reforms.
