Historically, our client relied on an exhaustive and manual process for the filing of their annual tax returns. They engaged PwC to help them streamline, systemise and digitise their processes.
To start, PwC conducted a review of corporate financial documents and analyses of the existing process and output. From that, several recommendations were made which included employing digital tools and process automations.
PwC initiated the development of the process design documents and process flows required for automation. Subsequently, we automated a section of the process via a software robot (‘bot’) that inputted data from Excel Tax Pack to the e-Tax platform. After conducting user acceptance testing, we obtained approval from our client to proceed.
We then provided training for our client’s teams, assisted with “bot” installation on their machines and provided ongoing robotic process automation (RPA) management and support.
The development of the bot served to provide documentation and file the client’s returns on the local authority’s e-Tax online platform and resulted in a 70% reduction in the total time spent on data entry whilst maintaining a 100% accuracy rate. This efficiency gain enabled our client to reallocate their staff resources to other areas while still meeting the standards required for its e-Tax fillings.
