Changes in crossing the Polish border for foreign carriers

24/07/24

We would like to inform you that from 1 November 2024, all foreign carriers crossing the border with the Republic of Poland must be registered in the SENT (System for Electronic Transport Supervision) IT system. While previously this requirement applied to those transporting fuels, lubricants and certain chemicals, it will soon apply to all types of cargo. It must be noted that the new category of notifications will supplement, and not replace the current system.

The foreign carrier will be required to obtain a reference number, i.e., a unique identifier assigned to each transport notification .  The notification will include, among other things:

  • information on the country of loading and the country of unloading of the goods
  • data of the foreign entity engaged in road transport
  • vehicle identification numbers
  • reference number of the accompanying document for the cargo

In case of violation of these requirements, the vehicle may be detained, and its owner may be subject to fines of PLN 23,500 per vehicle.

Therefore, we advise you to prepare for the changes in advance and plan your trips in accordance with the new requirements. Should you require assistance with registration in SENT IT system, our experts are always ready to help you.
