Driving economic advancement through community college support

The PwC Foundation made a $6 million grant to Jobs for the Future (JFF), the largest education grant the Foundation has ever awarded. This grant addresses a critical challenge: the stark underrepresentation of Black and Latino/Hispanic workers in high-wage, high-growth industries. By working with community colleges, JFF aims to dismantle systemic societal obstacles and provide students with the skills, knowledge, and work-based learning opportunities that are essential for economic mobility.

Over a three-year period, the grant will enable JFF to identify and collaborate with a cohort of 10 community colleges, offering direct funding, technical assistance and coaching designed to connect 3,000+ students to paid work opportunities. This work aims to prepare students for meaningful careers and contribute to narrowing the racial wealth gap, fostering inclusive economic growth.

Positively impacting the careers of veterans

The transition from military service to civilian life can come with significant challenges. Some veterans lack a professional network, a resume tailored for civilian careers or the know-how to translate their military skills into the job market.

American Corporate Partners (ACP) is helping change this narrative. With a grant from the PwC Foundation, ACP is providing critical year-long, one-on-one mentorships, assistance in making connections and help building skills and confidence and finding meaningful employment for over 750 participants in its Veterans of Color, Bridge and Active-Duty Military Spouse programs.​ The Foundation's support helps ACP adapt its programming to meet evolving needs among today's veterans.

Additionally, PwCers have actively participated as mentors, leveraging their professional skills to support veterans. To date, more than 130 PwCers have served as mentors for ACP—through an effort that not only honors veteran service but also helps cultivate a stronger, more inclusive community for all.

The Foundation’s grant is part of its broader Veterans Commitment, developed with the PwC Veterans Affinity Network. The effort has contributed more than $26 million since 2015 to support veterans and their families as they move from active duty to civilian careers. These investments are expected to impact more than 400,000 veterans.

Over a decade of collaboration to help students thrive

For over a decade, PwC and the PwC Foundation have worked alongside iMentor to help shape the futures of students through mentorship and career support. More than 600 PwC mentors have contributed an average of 2,000 volunteer hours each year, developing meaningful relationships that can open doors to new opportunities for students. These efforts have helped students build confidence, navigate challenges, and make informed decisions about their academic and career paths.

In 2023, the PwC Foundation awarded iMentor a $2 million grant to develop an innovative curriculum aimed at enhancing career exploration and building social capital. This funding will enable iMentor to deliver forward-thinking programming that aims to equip students with the skills and networks necessary to thrive in an increasingly complex job market. Together, PwC and the PwC Foundation are helping to equip students with the tools to shape their futures and reach their potential, no matter the obstacles they face.
