Supplier diversity at PwC

How do we achieve supplier diversity

Who we work with and how we work with them matters. We know that when large organizations like PwC contract a diverse supplier, it means more than just a financial impact on the business. It also inspires the development of entrepreneurs and expanded opportunities throughout diverse communities. We are continuing to set aspirational goals with diverse suppliers, year over year - and this year is no different.

Building diverse supplier relationships that deliver for our business and our communities

Relationships are important. We’ve started with the most straightforward steps to increase our investment in the growth and development of diverse businesses through education and roundtable discussions. In addition, we paired our leaders with diverse businesses focused on the supplier's objectives, but now we are leveling up our efforts.

That’s why in FY23, we launched a new mentoring program with underrepresented suppliers that we would like to work with. We work alongside these organizations to help identify potential areas for growth, connect them with resources and facilitate introductions with our people to help foster relationships critical to delivering success.

“We are committed to the growth and development of diverse-owned businesses and paving the way for positive economic impact in our communities. We are taking action by working together, welcoming new insights and adopting an innovative mindset in order to drive our momentum. Progress has been made but it will require our collective effort to accomplish the work that still lies ahead.”

Working together

Through collaboration, we are determined to build on our progress. We actively engage with external organizations and national councils that work to influence broad change in support of supplier diversity:

  • National Minority Supplier Diversity Council, NMSDC
  • Women's Business Enterprise National Council WBENC
  • Disability:IN
  • National Veteran-Owned Business Association NaVOBA
  • National LGBT Chamber of Commerce NGLCC

See our Supplier Diversity Statement for additional information on certifications we require.

operating sustainability

Operating sustainably

In parallel with efforts to spend more with diverse suppliers, we remain focused on helping our supplier network operate in a sustainable way. Just as we are engaging stakeholders throughout our supply chain to help them meet the needs of working with a large organization like PwC, we are also working with them to reduce their emissions. This work is critical, as our large supplier network spans the globe and has wide-reaching impacts that far exceed the impact of our own operations.

“PwC is moving the needle with supplier diversity efforts by identifying and acting on new opportunities in our supply chain by being intentional when selecting our suppliers in procurement and making a direct impact with diverse-owned businesses. Given our contracting cycle and market complexities, we are focusing on advancing opportunities for diverse owned businesses over the next three years. This will be critical to continue to drive momentum. It’s not just how we do business, but with whom we do business.”
