Certified public accountants (CPAs) play a critical role in our economy, building trust in our capital markets and protecting the public interest. Accountants are much more than just tax preparers, applying a deep and digital skill set to analyze complex data. They help inform important decisions by companies and consumers alike through the audits, advice and analysis they provide - and the accounting skill set is at the foundation of career paths ranging from CFOs to entrepreneurs.
“In a time when trust is more important than ever - and more difficult to build and retain - the independent assurance delivered by CPAs is a cornerstone for the health of our financial and capital markets, as well as our economy,” explained Wes Bricker, PwC Vice Chair - US Trust Solutions Co-Leader.
As the profession continues to evolve, PwC is focused on opening new career pathways and helping prepare the next generation of accountants and auditors to solve today and tomorrow’s challenges. This year we hosted Destination CPA, a brand new, three day in-person immersive experience bringing together nearly 1,200 accounting students and future CPAs from across the country who have an internship offer with our firm. The program helped students build lasting relationships, explore PwC, understand the versatility of a CPA license and career, as well as discover how it can impact them – at PwC and beyond.
“We wanted to connect, inspire and build a sense of belonging among the accounting workforce of the future,” said Rod Adams, PwC Talent Acquisition and Onboarding Leader. “It was an opportunity for these students to not only learn from our leaders and professionals, but to also learn from each other, and it was incredible to see the curiosity, excitement and ambition of these aspiring accountants.”
