The Start experience

Start is PwC’s Career Readiness and Leadership Development Experience, uniquely designed for high-performing college sophomores/rising juniors looking to grow their business and professional acumen, and inclusive mindset. 


Start eligibility

Following successful completion of a Start internship and maintaining academic standing, students will be eligible for an Advance internship offer for the subsequent year. Students are eligible for one Advance internship following the successful completion of Start.

  • To be eligible for the Start Internship, you must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree and be in your sophomore year of a 4-year degree program or junior year of a five-year degree program. You may also be pursuing an Associates Degree and be matriculating to a four-year institution.
  • For specific Accounting practices, you must be CPA eligible, including that you will have the required 150 credit hours upon graduation.
  • Preferred Fields of Study: Refer to preferred fields of study as listed in corresponding requisition details

 

About Start

Start is just the first step in PwC's Internship Experience. If you receive and accept a Start internship offer for Audit, DAT, Tax or Advisory, you also will receive an offer for an internship for the same career areas for the year following your Start internship. This excludes Products and Technology (P&T).

Start will enable you to:

  • Utilize your problem solving, analytical, research and organizational skills to understand our business 
  • Gain exposure to our partners, principals and staff through networking events, social media, and mentorship opportunities 
  • Participate in professional development opportunities focused on topics such as personal brand, building relationships, developing a business perspective, and engaging in continuous coaching and development with the assistance of a team of mentors

Start interview process

If you apply to more than one opportunity, you will only be selected to interview for one position.

Start interviews for our Audit, Tax, DAT and P&T practice teams will consist of two back-to-back live, virtual interviews. Start Advisory interviews will be live, virtual interviews including case and behavioral formats.

Audit

A career within External Audit services, will provide you with the opportunity to provide a range of Assurance services to a variety of clients from small, fast-growing clients to large entities. Our External Audit professionals help companies, management and their boards by providing quality, independent audits of financial statements -- and delivering relevant insights. You’ll have the opportunity to learn how a business runs from the ground up while developing an in-depth understanding of financial statements, internal controls, and the regulatory environment.

 

Digital Assurance & Transparency practice (DAT)

Our Digital Assurance & Transparency practice (DAT) is at the forefront of innovation, supporting both delivery of high-quality, tech-enabled solutions focused on trust and transparency and value-add growth in business and social issues that are top of mind with our clients. You’ll work closely with clients, your DAT team, and our external audit teams to understand the systems & technologies our clients use and how they can mitigate risk. As a DAT professional, you’ll be part of an organization with a focus on quality, value, innovation and growth and gain experience across several of our specialized areas of focus throughout your career.

 

Tax

Our Tax professionals work with some of the world’s largest organizations on tax planning, global structuring, and tax controversy and help our clients navigate an increasingly complex tax environment.

As a PwC Tax professional you will have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of work:

  • Compliance: Preparing and filing all related tax returns for an entity.
  • Provision: Calculating or auditing the tax related amounts for our clients' financial statements.
  • Consulting: Assisting clients with tax planning and advising on the tax implications associated with structural changes or other activities.

 

Advisory
