Jay is a Minneapolis-based principal who has spent two decades advising executives, including the last 14 specializing in privacy risk management. Jay brings a uniquely practical perspective to his multinational clients from his years leading a global privacy and security program for an international travel and hospitality company. Most recently, Jay led a privacy consulting firm that specialized in helping corporations in the medical device, pharmaceutical, healthcare, retail, technology, manufacturing, and agribusiness sectors to locate, classify, control, and systematically retire their sensitive data. In his work, Jay has helped private- and public-sector clients comply with data privacy and security regulations across nearly every sector and region.

Jay is a Certified Information Privacy Professional, has held leadership positions in the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), and frequent contributor to leading industry publications. He was also the winner of the 2005 Barbara Wellbery Memorial Award for his proposal for an international Safe Harbor agreement and the 2010 HP-IAPP Privacy Innovation Award for his Privacy Maturity Model. Jay’s work has appeared in several business publications, and he is a regular speaker on information risk management where he is known for a quantitative emphasis.
