Jason Swales is a partner in the Tax Services practice of PwC Canada and works out of the Toronto office. Jason is the Tax Financial Services Markets Leader. He specializes in providing domestic and international tax advice for large and small domestic and international clients, including life and general insurance and reinsurance companies, captive insurers, banks, asset managers, private equity funds, and investment dealers.

With more than 25 years of tax advisory experience, Jason provides his clients with insightful advice on Canadian and international tax matters, including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, corporate finance, derivative investments and tax accounting.

Jason is the co-author of a book published by LexisNexis entitled “Canadian Insurance Taxation”. He has spoken on a variety of tax matters, including appearances at the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association, the Canadian Insurance Accountants Association, and the Tax Executives Institute.

Jason is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Canadian Tax Foundation. He received his LLB in 1995 from the University of Western Ontario, and was called to the Ontario bar in 1997. He also holds a B.Com and Economics from McMaster University.
