Neil Bunker is a Partner in the Vancouver office of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and is a member of the Corporate Advisory and Restructuring group. He has over 24 years of experience advising debtors and secured lenders in financial distress situations and has led and managed restructuring engagements for enterprises in a variety of industries.
Neil is practiced at quickly gaining an understanding of businesses in distress and the issues it faces. He understands the perspectives of stakeholders including lenders, employees, customers and general creditors and works to build consensus amongst them to effectively develop and implement restructuring plans that maximize value to stakeholders.
Notable Recent Mandates Include:
- Pacific Exploration and Production Corporation – Co-leas as Monitor pursuant to CCAA proceedings undertaken by the largest oil and gas producer in Latin America to compromise $5.4 billion in unsecured bank and bond debt. The restructuring involved proceedings in Canada, United States and Colombia and multiple stakeholders.
- League Assets Corporation – Co-lead as Monitor pursuant to CCAA proceedings undertaken by this large real estate investment group which owed over $250 million to secured lenders and $350 million to investors. Key elements of this engagement included the sale of 22 properties located across Canada, the structuring and implementation of a complex corporate restructuring that realized the value of tax losses from a major development property, a high level forensic review of funds flows and comprehensive reporting to over 3500 investors and the Court.
- William Switzer & Associates Ltd. – Restructuring advisor and Monitor pursuant to CCAA proceedings for this privately owned furniture manufacturer and retailer. Developed a restructuring plan and obtained secured lender approval of the plan. Coordinated a full repayment to the secured lender and the sale of the business to a new operator.
Neil is a Chartered Accountant, a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional and a Licensed Insolvency Trustee. He is a member of the Turnaround Management Association, the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals, the Insolvency Institute of Canada and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia.
