Paul is a Chartered Accountant, a Chartered Business Valuator and a partner at PwC Calgary. He specializes in loss quantification analysis, business valuation and forensic investigations. Paul has also been qualified and has provided testimony as an expert witness in the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench and in front of the Alberta Utilities Commission and the International Chamber of Commerce International Court of Arbitration.
Paul has more than 18 years of experience in public accounting, including more than 15 years focused on valuation, loss quantification and forensic accounting. He is well versed in the preparation of reports with respect to business and security valuation in the context of shareholder disputes and transactions, matrimonial disputes, tax authority disputes, tax planning, corporate reorganizations and merger/acquisition based mandates. He has also produced reports and analyses on financial viability assessments and fair value accounting in the context of purchase price allocations, intangible asset valuation, goodwill impairment analysis and valuation of financial instruments including options and convertible instruments.
Paul also has significant experience preparing reports in connection with loss and damages scenarios including business interruption, breach of contract, damaged inventory, employee theft and numerous other forensic accounting based engagements.
While Paul has prepared reports and analyses across many industries, he has significant expertise in the energy sector. His experience includes valuations of assets and businesses across all sectors of the energy industry including energy services, upstream, midstream and downstream entities in North America and other jurisdictions.
