Chien-yu is a U.S. attorney in the immigration practice based in Vancouver.

Chien-yu has advised clients of various industries, including Fortune 500 companies, on U.S. business immigration matters. Having spent years in the United States as an expatriate, Chien-yu deeply understands the daily and intersectional challenges of immigrants and international visitors and strives to practice law with compassion. He has assisted employers to file temporary work visas, transfer overseas executives and managers to the United States, respond to PERM audits and H-1B RFEs, and retain individuals of Extraordinary Ability.

Prior to practicing immigration law, Chien-yu gained valuable experience in U.S. and international legal and policy issues through research, journalism, and advocacy. He has published writings on disaster displacement, forced migration, transgender rights, and gender diversity and inclusion.

Chien-yu obtained an SJD (Doctor of Juridical Science) degree from Georgetown University Law Center and a Certificate in Refugees and Humanitarian Emergencies from the Institute for the Study of International Migration (ISIM) of Georgetown University School of Foreign Service (SFS) in Washington, DC. He received an LLM (Master of Laws) degree in International Legal Studies from the New York University School of Law. He is admitted to the New York State bar. Chien-yu is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and the American Bar Association (ABA).
