Interview

Why were you attracted to Deals?

I chose PwC Deals because of the dynamic Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) market in Turkey and, at that time, I had a strong personal interest in M&A. Deals is also rapidly growing in Turkey and I was young and very ambitious. When I started my career with PwC, there were only 17 people in Deals and now I am part of a really dynamic Deals community with over 100 professionals.

Deals could be viewed as historically male dominated. What do you attribute your success to?

I don’t think that I have succeeded for reasons that are any different from men. I am hardworking and have a strong work ethic and I’m technically strong. Like all my colleagues, regardless of gender, I act as a trusted advisor to my clients and establish long-term relationships with them.

What would you say to any young women considering whether a career in Deals is for them?

I think that women can differentiate themselves with their dedication, curiosity, creativity, positive attitude and sincerity. So, if you are seeking new challenges and want to expand your learning, then PwC Deals can match what you are looking for.

What do you see as the benefits of the Edge programme?

Edge graduates get the opportunity to gain experience across the Deal business very early in their career. This gives them a strong foundation of experience that will benefit them as they progress through PwC. They get the opportunity to build a network of colleagues across different geographies, which allows them to learn from each other and also helps generate international deals.

What excites you about the work that you do?

I really enjoy working on a project basis, as this not only enables me to develop deep technical skills but also build strong team-working ethics. I value the strong and trusted relationships that I have built with key priority clients (both strategic and Private Equity) throughout my career and am advising clients now that I first engaged with in my early career.
