Interview

What initially attracted you to Deals?

I was attracted by the fast pace and the opportunity to be part of a team that works on engagements that really matter and make an impact on the markets we operate in.

Tell us about your role, what does it involve?

I am a valuation partner in the PwC offices in Johannesburg. We value businesses for transactions and financial reporting purposes.

What is it about the role you enjoy the most?

I enjoy working with a diverse group of really talented people across the PwC network on technically challenging enagements, and continuously having the opportunity to learn

Did you have any role models?

I've had a number of role models at various stages in my life and career. I have identified people who have values that I can identify with, who are successful at what they do and have attributes that I could learn from.

What piece of advice would you give to female recruits considering joining a career in PwC Deals?

While you can expect to work hard as a Deals professional, know that hard work is recognised and rewarded.

What is the best piece of advice you have been given about developing your career?

Whether it's a co-worker, a client or a boss, earn their trust. Once you've earned someone's trust, new opportunities, support and co-operation will come your way.

What do you attribute your success to?

Drive, a need to see things to completion and a strong support system in my personal and professional lives.

What has been the highlight of your career in Deals with PwC?

Becoming the first female Deals Partner in PwC South Africa was a huge accomplishment, both for me and my female colleagues. I think it went a long way to showing our team that hard work and commitment will be recognised.

What is the best thing about working in a profession traditionally dominated by men?

In an environment traditionally dominated by men you have an opportunity to make a strong impression by introducing a more diverse view and unique perspectives.
