Mitigating flood disasters
Mitigating flood disasters with an AI Flood Resilience Tool
In the past decade alone flooding has displaced approximately 24 million people and caused economic losses of approximately US $453 billion.
PwC Middle East developed an AI-driven Flood Resilience tool. It uses geospatial AI to create dynamic, real-time simulations of potential flooding scenarios, incorporating data on topography, rainfall, cyclones and proximity to the ocean.
The 3D visualisations make is easy to understand the likely flow of the flood – helping everyone from government agencies to emergency services, insurance companies and homeowners to mitigate loss and harm for the future.
Optimising refugee resources
Optimising refugee resources
The unpredictability and urgency of refugee movements make it hard for public authorities to cope – especially when balanced with high costs and the feelings of local communities.
So, PwC Netherlands team developed a powerful AI model which uses data, community research and expert knowledge, to provide authorities with quantitative insights into potential interventions – from education, to employment, sports and transport.
Originally designed to support Ukrainian refugees, it outperforms human strategies. And the model can be easily adapted by decision makers and NGOs anywhere – to improve trust and support with data-driven approaches.
Improving clinical trials
Improving clinical trials to accelerate vital treatments
Clinical trials can take up to 10-15 years and cost billions of dollars, greatly hampering the delivery of new treatments.
So, PwC US has been working with a leading pharmaceutical client to improve the process – using data analytics and GenAI to design a new clinical trial, as well as an integrated technology platform with our Alliance partners Amazon Web Services and Microsoft.
The result: costs were reduced, time was cut by 20-25% and the quality of findings were enhanced through greater precision. It also delivered a revenue boost, of more than $100 million, by accelerating time to market. The new design could revolutionise a wide range of drug trials – ultimately benefiting patients everywhere.
