Message from the Territory Senior Partner

Welcome to our 2022 Transparency Report

I am pleased to present our firm’s review for the period ending on 30 June 2023.

At PwC, our purpose is to build trust in society and solve important problems, and our people are committed to driving a strong culture of quality and excellence that is core to that purpose. Our reputation as the market-leading firm is built on this quality and trust, and we strive to provide high-value services to our clients and stakeholders.

To help prepare our 691 people for the different challenges that we are facing today, and to continue to aspire to deliver services to the highest standards, we have provided over 85,000 hours of training. We also work very closely with our global network on cross-border and international engagements and our people participate in our global mobility programme, giving them further opportunities to develop and grow.

Organisations such as ours have a duty to invest in the student population, and we continue to work closely with both the University of Malta and MCAST. We provide traineeships and internships to more than 250 students with practical work opportunities to complement their studies and also provide ongoing guidance and financial support to several student organisations such as KSU and KSM.

PwC's global strategy, The New Equation, addresses fundamental changes in the world, including technological disruption, climate change, and fractured geopolitics, and focuses on building trust and delivering sustained outcomes. As our business and those of our clients, become transformed through innovation and new technology, investment in this space is critical. To adapt to technological shifts, we acquired Megabyte Limited in early 2023, expanding our tech team to 52 experts. In May 2023, we also held our first Tech Week where we showcased our offerings in this area, and various solutions that we have developed, some in conjunction with business partners.

PwC’s approach to building trust is designed to meet rising expectations of transparency and accountability. It combines expertise in audit, tax and compliance activities with a drive to expand specialist capabilities. Through investment in cyber security, data privacy, and ESG, we believe our teams are at the forefront of these services in the local market. I was proud to announce the appointment of two new directors to the firm this year, Pamela Mamo and Mark Tabone, and Etienne Bonnici as Chief Technology Officer, together with the appointment of 15 new senior managers, to continue to strengthen the services we provide.

The strength of our multidisciplinary approach has underpinned our strong performance during the financial year ending 30 June 2023. The results are encouraging and show a turnover of €60.7 million, achieved across all lines of service, driven by client growth and expanded services. I am proud of the work that our talented group solvers have delivered this year and I would like to thank each and every one of them for their efforts and dedication.

Looking forward, we commit to continue investing in our practice, working closely with our clients to cater for their needs, and to continue to empower our people, who are the backbone of who we are.
