Ouman, Jerina and Vivek share their experience working on challenging yet rewarding assignments.
Ouman - Experienced Senior Associate in Tech Assurance
It’s been nearly 4 years since I joined the PwC Family. I’m currently an experienced Senior Associate in the Tech Assurance (TA) department. Throughout my journey, I gained a lot of experience to become an IT Audit specialist. I had the opportunity to work on many client engagements in several sectors namely manufacturing, retail, hospitality and banking. This sometimes meant flying to other countries such as Seychelles and South Africa. The best part of the job is that you develop new professional contacts, understand different business processes and client systems which make the profession much more interesting.
Jerina - Associate in Technology Assurance
I have been working for one and half years as an Associate in the Tech Assurance department of PwC. This unit provides services related to controls around financial reporting processes. Working in collaboration with the audit team, we perform financial and operational applications/business process controls reviews and IT general controls reviews. This provided me with audit experience in different industry sectors such as banking, hospitality, textile and manufacturing. During my time at PwC, I have formed part of teams that service some of the largest companies in Mauritius, and I have also travelled overseas for work. This exposure has shaped my character and allowed me to deal with work pressure and tight deadlines. Moreover, dealing with clients of different backgrounds, mindsets and cultures has developed my interpersonal and communication skills further. One of the key skills that I have gained at PwC is professional skepticism!
Vivek - Associate in Assurance Technology
I joined PwC around six months ago, I met a lot of amazing people and made new friends. Joining the Tech Assurance (TA) team has been the best decision for me as I am getting the chance to do data analytics and I have gained skills on different software tools such as ACL and Alteryx, in addition to IT auditing. Also, my seniors and managers always try to make themselves available for any assistance that I may require. Working in TA means dealing with a variety of clients. It is very exciting to learn and understand about the different types of systems used by those clients. My biggest challenge yet was my first assignment itself, when working for one of the biggest banks in Mauritius. We had to complete the final report on a tight deadline, but the team came together well and we got it done!
