Panel 1: Regulatory Rhythms Panel Discussion

As regulations evolve towards heightened transparency in cyber incident reporting and risk management, the landscape becomes increasingly complex. In this session, we unpacked global regulatory shifts spanning the EU, Middle East, Africa, and North America and r what these changes signify for the growth and compliance journey of both private and public organisations.

The panel also discussed the necessity for regulatory frameworks to evolve alongside rapid technological advancements. Panelists emphasized that rigid regulations could stifle innovation and economic growth, advocating for adaptable approaches that can accommodate emerging technologies. They underscored the critical role of public-private partnerships (PPPs) collaborations that can leverage the strengths of both sectors—government oversight and private sector innovation.

Implementing effective cyber regulations presents significant challenges, as discussed by the panel. Key obstacles include the fast pace of technological change, the diversity of cyber threats, and varying levels of cybersecurity maturity across organisations.

The panel predicted that future cyber threats would become increasingly sophisticated, driven by advancements in AI, IoT, and quantum computing. To counter these evolving threats, proactive measures were deemed essential - including continuous threat intelligence sharing, regular updates to cybersecurity protocols, and investment in cutting-edge defense technologies.

Their role is increasingly strategic, focusing on building a culture of security within the organization.
