Mauritius exits the EU Blacklist

Dheerend Puholoo, ACCA Tax Leader, PwC Mauritius 21/01/22

With effect from 07 January 2022, the European Commission removed Mauritius from the list of high-risk third countries since all strategic deficiencies identified by FATF in its AML/CFT system have been addressed.

Mauritius was placed on the FATF grey list in February 2020 and was called upon by the FATF to implement an Action Plan within agreed timeline and put in place all measures and systems necessary to implement the Action Plan.

The removal of Mauritius from the EU blacklist reinforces its position as a trusted and compliant jurisdiction.
