Cloud Transformation

Be in control of your cloud adoption journey and redefine your business using the Cloud.

Start performing cloud transformation
… the right way

What is ‘the right way’? In the PwC Cloud Transformation team, we believe that ‘the right way’ means strategically navigating through challenges to achieve goals. Focusing on reaching the business outcome, not wasting time on unnecessary action, and harnessing the Cloud in all its forms. Whether it’s new digital revenue streams, smarter ways of working, on-demand software applications, data and infrastructure services, or delivering superlative customer experience, we will get you there … the right way.

Focus on the value. Innovate and transform.

We believe in having a clear vision and leveraging these benefits immediately:

Comprehensive, multi-layered approach

We broke down the cloud transformation process into five stages with four additional layers to ensure total understanding of the process and activities. This way, our cooperation is seamless and can start yielding benefits immediately.

Infrastructure and software accelerators

Our team boasts extensive experience in optimising a range of infrastructure and software solutions, and utilising software accelerators which enable us to decrease design and implementation time significantly. This effectively establishes landing zones and Data as a Service platforms, implementing FinOps policies and more.

Custom tailored areas of each cloud transformation stage

Every company’s journey to the Cloud is unique. Some need a drastic transformation to get back on track, while others only need a few adjustments. You will receive exactly what you need depending on your situation, helping you save time and money.

Focus on the ‘business first’ approach

Our ‘business first’ approach brings more value to the customer. It improves internal cooperation, governance, management, IT processes, and controls FinOps all while keeping the highest security standards. These are essential for any successful cloud transformation.

Kick-start at any moment depending on maturity

Whether your company is just starting its journey to the Cloud, or you already have a presence there and are just looking to capture the latest technology and services, we will provide you with a clear strategy to transition to the Cloud, ensuring efficient allocation and utilisation of your capital in cloud solutions.

Full control and transparency

The value of total transparency and control over each stage of your cloud transformation journey cannot be overstated. Our research shows that cloud migration KPIs and dashboards with clear objectives, spending, HR insights, maturity charts and progress evaluations drastically reduce time for decision making and risk/change management processes.

Discover the stages of a successful cloud transformation.

Through years of experience and hundreds of success stories, our experts came up with the Five Stages of Cloud Adoption Journey Initiative: a process that combines state-of-the-art cloud capabilities, implementation accelerators and the business first approach to take your business to the next level.

Five stages to properly understand, prepare, implement, and operate your newly reached cloud adopted business.

This first step allows you to understand the core outcome, define KPIs and find the journey that will bring the most value to you and your customers. It also covers aspects of cloud transformation like stakeholder awareness and alignment, digital future strategy, economic value and cost analysis, data strategy and roadmaps, reference frameworks, cloud readiness assessments, competitive advantages (both internal and external), redefinition of client processes to reflect client end-state maturity.

This also extends beyond the IT domain, incorporating cloud-centric thinking across Finance, Operations, HR, and beyond, ensuring a holistic transition to the cloud era for the entire organisation.

Using all the information gathered during the first stage, we can start to outline the transformation. The second stage will provide key documents like target cloud architecture, cloud service design, cloud security, cloud governance framework, cloud operating model framework, and others that will be integral during the migration process.

The third stage will focus on prospecting vendors, deciding on involvement in the Cloud, financial operations, and gauging the financial effectiveness of the chosen tools and solutions. Also at this stage, training will be conducted to align the skill set among the team and prepare for migration work, all while keeping your human resources in mind. Everyone should be on the same page and have the same level of understanding regarding the Cloud which is used.

The fourth stage focuses on the actual implementation work that was planned. Tasks will include: preparation of the target cloud workload onboarding, implementation of cloud governance designs, IaaS/PaaS/SaaS service catalogs, risk and controls. Migration will cover: cloud pilots, re-factoring/re-architecting/re-platforming work, application migration (all leveraged by cloud migration PMO and the control center). For total control by upper management, the whole process will be aligned with cloud migration KPIs. The current statuses, details, and backlog items will be displayed on the dashboard.

The fifth, and final, stage will cover the steps after the actual transformation is finished. These steps include maintaining, controlling, and operating the newly deployed solutions with a strong emphasis on FinOps to control the cost. The team will deploy cloud automation, cloud service delivery models, cyber threat operations, and present value and benefits realisation.

Kick-start your journey now with Cloud Transformation Readiness

Cloud Transformation Readiness was designed to help companies with the implementation of their own dedicated cloud journey through the first stage of the cloud transformation process — vision and strategy. Cloud Transformation Readiness includes a series of optional strategic, architectural and sourcing services, as well as workshops. These help customers utilise best practices and state-of-the-art technology while deciding on a cloud journey.

  • Discover and assess your apps, databases, and infrastructure
Get insights to your dependencies using automated cloud migration tools. Inventory your infrastructure and assess your on-the-premises environments — get right-sizing guidance, workload-level cost estimates, and performance metrics.
  • Make a business case for migration and modernisation
Evaluate the potential cost savings of migrating to the Cloud by calculating and comparing your total cost of ownership (TCO) for the chosen provider with that of a comparable on-premises deployment.
  • Build a holistic plan
Account for workload priorities, timelines, milestones, resources, and funding. Then, break up your overall plan into migration and modernisation projects, each with a group of related workloads. Get buy-ins from leadership and your new migration centre of excellence.
  • Discover the strategy for each workload
Enterprise networking, n-tier, web-queue-worker, microservices, event-driven architecture, big data, big compute, monolith — all these may be part of your IT architecture. Keep aligned with well-architected framework elements like cost optimisation, operational excellence, performance efficiency, reliability and security by choosing the proper migration strategy.
  • Plan landing zones for your workloads
Help avoid governance issues during and after migration by using landing zone best practices. Preconfigured landing zones include networking, identity, management, security, and governance elements that balance agility with organisational standards.
  • Possible deliverables:
    - Discovery application and infrastructure portfolio
    - Migration strategies and success criteria
    - Migration plan
    - Target operating model definition - landing zone
    - Pilot and PoC migration
