Rounders tournament raises £7,000 for The Children’s Centre

26 June, 2023

An annual community rounders event, sponsored by PwC Isle of Man, has helped raise thousands of pounds for The Children’s Centre.

360 people in thirty-six teams battled it out for the title of rounders champion 2023 at last Thursday’s event held at Vagabonds Rugby Club. ‘One Hit Wonders’ took home the win, with Games Global and MAC Group in second and third place.

Organised by The Children’s Centre, the popular tournament attracts people from across the island’s business and sports networks to compete against each other in support of local charity.

Joff Whitten, CEO of The Children’s Centre, said: “We really do appreciate how well supported this event is, with so many different companies taking part, it makes for a great night of sport and a fantastic atmosphere.

A big thank you to those who helped on the night to make the whole things possible and to all the teams who took part.

We enjoy working with the PwC Isle of Man team each year and are grateful for their ongoing support of the event, including their commitment to remain as sponsor until 2025.”

This year marks PwC Isle of Man’s sixth consecutive sponsorship of the charity rounders tournament. Their financial support covers the organisational costs ensuring all event proceeds go directly to The Children's Centre’s services and charitable projects, including tailored support programmes and sessions for children and young people facing challenging emotional and physical issues.

Paul Jones, Corporate Responsibility Lead at PwC Isle of Man, commented: “Congratulations to ‘One Hit Wonders’ on their victory! As always, the tournament was a huge success with some healthy competition and looked to be enjoyed by all who participated.

Over £46,000 has been raised through our sponsorship of The Children’s Centre rounders tournament to date and we are thrilled to continue supporting the event for the next two years. Helping to build on this incredible amount and make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and families in our local community is important to us.”
