Our environmental impact

Malta Annual Review 2020

Our role at PwC is to build trust in society and solve important problems. The care of our environment, and issues of sustainability, are therefore at the core of who we are, and how we aspire to operate. To reinforce this trust and lead by example, we need to start with ourselves.

Year after year we aim to limit our impact on the environment, and we look for ways to give back to the community. Our ‘Green committee’ meets regularly throughout the year, and is charged with monitoring and reducing our environmental impact, while coming up with new initiatives for the firm as a whole. Furthermore, the firm’s Sustainability Advisory Services team helps our clients better manage ongoing environmental and social issues by raising awareness and providing key insight and knowledge.

What we've done

Recycling

Recycling is crucial to the future of our planet, that’s why at PwC Malta we have introduced new bin units on all floors, in addition to the ones we already have. All bins have been updated with new and improved signs explaining what waste goes in each bin. We remain committed to the separation of waste, and to promoting recycling efforts, and will be assessing and increasing the special purpose bins as needed.

Electricity and water consumption

This year, being that we have been mostly working remotely due to COVID-19 from mid-March, we’ve reduced our electricity and water consumption by 41% compared to last year - a significant decrease.

Paper consumption and printing

Also due to COVID and remote working, we’ve seen a massive decrease in our paper consumption - of 48% - from January to June 2020, compared to the same period last year.
