Chief Risk Officer, PwC Malaysia
Ong Ching Chuan is the Chief Risk Officer for the PwC Malaysia-Vietnam firm. He oversees the firm's enterprise risk management (ERM), regulatory compliance and reporting programmes. He drives the strategic vision of the risk function in response to the fast-changing risk landscape. He is actively involved in risk identification and mitigation, helping the firm to build trust, anchored on a culture of quality.
Prior to his Chief Risk Officer role, he was PwC Malaysia’s Assurance Leader. He has over 30 years of audit and business advisory experience, covering a wide range of clients from banks to other industry groups. In recent years, Ching Chuan has been responsible for multiple banking audits and various IFRS and regulatory compliance engagements.
He graduated from University Malaya with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He is a past council member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and has also been involved in various Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB) and MIA sub-committees.
When Ching Chuan is not at work, he enjoys jogging and exercising. Reading at night is his main de-stressing outlet to keep his mind clear. He enjoys engaging people and is always ready to offer a listening ear to both clients and his team at work.
