In June 2019, we opened a new office in Kuching, Sarawak, bringing the total number of PwC offices in Malaysia to seven. The decision was anchored by our growing client base in the State - both in the public and private sectors - which saw our people flying in for projects over the past few years. We understood that in order to build trust with our clients in East Malaysia, we needed to have a team permanently ‘on the ground’, allowing us to further enhance the value we can deliver to Sarawak.
The State is also directing its focus on accelerating its development and digital economy, an exciting transformation journey that we are enthusiastic to support. As a multi-disciplinary firm that can draw on the strength of our global network, we believe we are well-positioned to contribute to this game-changing vision. Our wide range of services also means we are able to help our clients across various industries, from infrastructure to utility companies and private businesses, solve the problems that are of utmost importance to them.
The official opening ceremony was officiated by The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, the Chief Minister of Sarawak. In his keynote address, he said, “... I’m pleased to see that PwC Malaysia has established a physical presence here. From my interactions with them on key issues ranging from technology and digital, to investment strategy and economics and policy, I’ve not only found their team’s advice to be sound and insightful, I’ve also learned that they are attuned to Sarawak’s needs.”
The event was attended by State Government officials, including Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak YB Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr. James Jemut Anak Masing, as well as corporate leaders.
