Welcome to our TaXavvy Budget Edition which brings you the key tax proposals of Budget 2025 as announced by the Prime Minister and Finance Minister, YAB Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim.

Highlights:

  • Tax on dividend - Dividends received by individual shareholders (more than RM100,000) is subject to tax at 2%
  • Tax reliefs - Enhanced reliefs for families and education

  • Sales and Service Tax - Expansion of scope to include business-to-business commercial service transactions and non-essential basic necessities

  • Stamping of instruments - Self-assessment stamp duty system will be implemented in three distinct phases

  • Foreign-sourced income exemption for resident individuals - Extension of exemption period until 31 December 2036

  • Special tax incentive - Income tax incentive at a special rate will be granted for investments in 21 economic sectors in specified States
