PwC Malaysia was appointed by the government of Malaysia to augment the overall programme management effort for the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme.
PwC worked alongside the Malaysian cross ministry COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) led by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) with cooperation from Ministry of Health (MOH) from March to October 2021 and played a pivotal role in enabling vaccines to be provided to everyone residing in Malaysia in an efficient and effective manner. PwC's role included the following:
Readiness assessment across the vaccines-to-vaccinations roadmap for critical workstreams prior to the nationwide roll out of the Immunisation Programme
Augmentating the CITF Programme Management Office (PMO) to drive the day-to-day coordination, accountability and implementation across the Immunisation Programme
Support in the planning and set-up of vaccination centres, including high capacity mega vaccination centres
Formulation and monitoring of national and state level vaccination targets and KPIs
Supply-demand-utilisation optimisation analytics and monitoring support
Monitoring the appointments management process and public support channels
Risk assessments, programme assurance and reporting.
Malaysia became one of the fastest countries globally for daily vaccination rate per capita
A notable drop in COVID-19 admissions, critical hospitalisation and deaths across the nation was observed as the programme progressed
Completing the vaccination programme ahead of schedule was critical in easing restrictions for individuals and businesses in order to kickstart the revival of the economy
This successful National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme continues with the administration of booster doses for adults and the commencement of vaccination for children aged 5 to 11 by the Ministry of Health (MOH).
